Lengerke Road - The Challenge

Proposal to walk along ancestral trails, rebuilt and paved in 1850. The purpose is to discover the emblematic Chicamocha River Canyon, an opportunity to observe the geological history of the world and enjoy the landscapes from Los Santos, Jordan and Villanueva, three towns with different perspectives of the imposing mountains.

Visit Barichara, the most beautiful town in Colombia for its colonial and cultural heritage, recognize the millenary past of Guane, a small town that keeps paleontological and archaeological treasures of great value for humanity.

Experience the magic of Zapatoca with its climate, landscapes and the warmth of its people, a territory that preserves the vestiges of marine life from millions of years ago, elements that led the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to recognize Zapatoca with the award "Best Tourism Villages 2023"

Experience conditions

• Recommended for visitors over 18 years old with good physical condition. Previous experience as a hiker is necessary. This hike is not suitable for people with knee problems due to the steepness and roughness of the trail in three sections. The use of trekking poles is essential to reduce stress on the knees.
• The Lengerke Trail is a hike that has sections of high and medium difficulty. Two days of hiking have high difficulty that includes descending and ascending through canyons with high temperatures, which is why the day starts early in the morning, involves descending to 425 masl and then ascending to 1700 masl.
• The proposed walking hours for each of the planned routes may be subject to change, including stops for hydration, food and photography. It may also vary according to the pace imposed by the group.
